Bangladesh stand-in skipper Mehedi Hasan Miraz blamed his batting for seven-wicket defeat in the second ODI of the three-match series against West Indies in St Kitts on Tuesday. Opening batsman Brandon King and fast bowler Jayden Seales starred as the home side coasted to a comprehensive win to claim the three-match ODI series. It was West Indies’ first ODI series win against Bangladesh in ten years. West Indies had on Sunday broken Bangladesh’s 11-match winning streak against them in the first ODI. “Our score wasn’t enough, 300-plus was needed,” admitted Bangladesh captain Miraz during post-match presentation. “We bowled really well…

Aichi governor Hideaki Omura, who also serves as chairman of the local organising committee, told reporters that preparations were on schedule. “We are taking this in a calm manner and my understanding is that preparations are progressing smoothly,”…
Manchester City’s malaise leaves the English champions in the unusual position of fretting over qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League ahead of a tricky trip to Italian giants Juventus. City have won just once in their past nine games in all competitions, with an injury crisis and a loss of form for some of their biggest stars leading to the worst run of Pep Guardiola’s managerial career. Despite a 4-1 humbling by Sporting Lisbon and an embarrassing collapse from 3-0 up to draw 3-3 against Feyenoord, they are still in a position to qualify from the new…
Joe Root’s reign as the best player in the world is over as rising England star Harry Brook confirmed his climb to the top by claiming the No.1 spot for the first time on the latest ICC Men’s Test Batter Rankings. Brook overtakes Root to snatch the premier Test batter ranking on the back of his eighth Test century against New Zealand in Wellington last week, with the England right-hander now holding on to a narrow one-point advantage over his more experienced teammate at the top of the rankings list. The rise of Brook to a total of 898 rating…

India’s Adani Group has withdrawn its request for a US government-backed loan to construct a port in Sri Lanka seen as a counter to a rival Chinese project, according to company filings. The move comes weeks after a bombshell indictment in New York accused the conglomerate’s billionaire founder Gautam Adani of deliberately misleading international investors as part of a bribery scheme. Subsidiary Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd said in a Tuesday statement that it was pulling its request for a loan of $553 million from the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) to build the deep-sea Colombo…
